I’ve suffered from depression all my life. I’ve struggled with the loneliness it brings with it.

Some of it is false loneliness: When I’m depressed it’s easy to forget how many people are there for me… will always be there for me.

Some of it is self imposed loneliness: When I’m depressed I avoid my friends because I’m afraid that if they find out they won’t like me any more.

Well, it’s time to face the lies, and bring out the truth. My name is Aoife Brown and I suffer from depression. I am not alone. Neither are you.

  1. I just wanted to thank you for sharing your story. I think we are in very similar boats, so-to-speak. The hardest thing to come to terms with is that once you’ve had a couple of ‘episodes’, it’s likely you’ll be dealing with depression for the test of your life. I think that makes it so important for people to band together, remind each other that we’re not alone and be there and be willing to share love and advice to others walking the same road.
